We invite visitors onto our 80-acre working farm to enjoy a rural experience that links people with the food that they consume.

The basis of our entire operation is health: pesticide-free food, diverse habitats, renewable energy, and creating enriching spaces for visitors to breathe the fresh air and enjoy life in the countryside.

U-Pick Agritourism

We feature the largest orchard in the area with several varieties of apples, peaches, pears and plums. We also have plantings of blackberries, strawberries and raspberries.

Our hedgerows and windbreaks feature myriad berries that are great for fresh-eating or preserving, including aronia berries, chokecherries, mulberries, wild plums and elderberries.

Garden produce picking is also available seasonally, including asparagus, tomatoes, sweet corn, and green beans.

Wildflower and cultivated flower picking is also available for bouquets and dried arrangements.

Keep an eye on our Facebook page for picking seasons and opportunities!

Ecotourism

Birdwatching- spring migration is an especially good time to visit as the lake hosts migrating waterfowl including pelicans, ducks and geese. A small blind is in place by the lake for unobtrusive viewing.

Canoeing or Kayaking- rentals may be available (dependent on sufficient water in the 20-acre lake).

Monarch Roosting- the farm features the perfect elements to serve as a roosting site for monarchs during their fall migration. Hundreds gather in the trees each September. It’s truly spectacular!

Hiking Trails- the farm features over 1.5 miles of walking trails that pass ponds, creeks, woodlands, prairies, fields and the lake.

Special Events

From a summer day camp for kids to farm tours and apple festivals, we host a variety of events for the community. Keep an eye on our events page for upcoming activities and workshops!

About Us

Corinne Kolm- Frank

Josh Frank

Giving Tree Farm is a dream twenty years in the making.

Corinne and Josh are native Nebraskans. Corinne is originally fifth-generation on a farm while Josh spent many joyful childhood days at the farms of both sets of grandparents. Corinne moved away for college and work, but always found her way back to her Nebraskan roots (and Josh).

Corinne researched agritourism for her master’s thesis in agroecology at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences and has worked in organic certification since graduation. She has toured agritourism destinations around the world in places as diverse as Iceland, Italy and India. She has deep roots with the Nebraska local food community and was the inaugural coordinator for the Buy Fresh Buy Local Nebraska program.

Josh is a total nature lover who studied geology in college. He works in IT at the University of Nebraska but knew that too much time sitting in front of the computer was not good for his health. He also wanted to have more control of the quality of the food he was consuming.

Corinne and Josh purchased the farm in 2018. Founders Merlin and Rita Friesen were retiring from farming and moving closer to their children. Merlin and Rita were very influential in the local food scene in Beatrice and left a true legacy here. The history of the amazing work they did building the farm (operated as Sunny Slope Farm) can be found HERE.
