May

May is probably my favorite month of the year. Cool season crops are bearing and many of the warm season crops get planted out. It’s a very busy time, but it’s still early enough in the season to be energetic and rejuvenated from the winter slowdown.

We are doing small field trials with cowpeas and some unique corn varieties this year, along with increasing the crops that we grow for our expanding chicken flock. Our small CSA program continues and we hope to have u-pick options for several crops this year!

We continue to increase the orchard plantings with new apple varieties, peaches and paw paws! We also added black raspberries this year.
